Your PAYE number is a 10-digit reference starting with 7. You'll find it on SARS eFiling under your company's tax products.
Before you start
You'll need:
Your SARS eFiling login details
Access to the company on your eFiling profile
Step-by-step
Log in to SARS eFiling at secure.sarsefiling.co.za.
Select your company from the Taxpayer dropdown at the top.
In the main menu, click Organisations.
In the secondary menu, click SARS Registered Details, then Maintain Registered Details.
Follow the prompts. When asked about VAT or payroll registrations, choose "None of the above" — it's a SARS quirk, this just opens the form.
Once the form loads, click My Tax Products, then Payroll Taxes.
Your PAYE number appears under Reference number — 10 digits, starting with 7.
Can't see a PAYE number?
Your company probably isn't registered for PAYE yet. You only need one if you're paying salaries to employees (including yourself as a director, in most cases). Get in touch and we'll register you.
